Uncle Newt

So, a little backstory. When I love a movie, I tend to look up everything I can about it. So, I was looking through information about Pacific Rim, trying to find out more things about the characters, when I came upon something very interesting. Hermann Gottlieb is married to a woman named Vanessa and they are expecting a child, who is born a few months after the movie ends.** That made me see his character in a whole new light. Since then, I have been interested in exploring that idea of Hermann being a husband and soon to be father. So, with that in mind, this popped into my head.

Their child, whom I imagined being a girl, is born and due to their drifting and new found connection, Hermenn decides to name Newt her godfather. However, despite this connection, their old relationship and banter still shines through. And hence this picture was created.

This was kind of a quick drawing and no colors. Newt's tattoo are SO detailed that I just kind of did scribbles to represent them. There is my take on what Vanessa looks like, I kind of see her being kind of short compared to her husband and have long straight hair.
