Name: Orpheo (best translation of his name from his native tongue)
Age: 18 (maturity) (His true age is unknown but is considered a teenager amongst his species)

*The name of Shadow Fiend has only stuck due to the inability of translating the real racial name from their native language. Shadow Fiends hail from a world darkness on the other side of a shadowy realm. While they are able to travel to this world, they are only voices, their forms unable to leave shadows, making them formless in this world. The only way for them to gain a form is to devour the form they want. (For example, if one were to devour a cat, they would take a shadowy shape of one.) However, doing this has extreme consequences for the Fiend. They can never return to their world. They also have the survival needs for the species they devoured, though these needs are slightly reduced from normal. The powers they once possessed are changed and greatly diminished. Most of the Shadow Fiends who have gotten a form have gone insane from the drastic change and ended up killing themselves. Hence the reason the getting of a form was usually a punishment for the worst of criminals. That was until Orpheo.

Personality: Despite his situation, Orpheo is a relatively positive person and is also very curious. To him, while he has his main goal of returning to his world, that doesn’t mean he has to be bitter about where he is, since he always wanted to go there. Orpheo hasn’t changed much in his year of school though he has learned something’s. He learned that there is something called personal space, however, he still can be a little in your face with his upbeat actions. He listens a little better and is more thoughtful. He is still genuine, pretty much never lying, except maybe if he needs to, but he is bad at it. He learned that there are terrible things in the world and has learned that there are times when you have to be serious. He is hardworking, persistent, slightly impulsive and gets excited about the strangest things. He has an uncanny will to survive, mostly due to a promise he made to his late brother that he would live on. In intense or otherwise threatening situations, he will do what he needs to in order to survive, whether it is to fight or flee. Most of the time, he will choose to flee, but if backed into a corner, he will fight back with intensity. His deeper personality, what he used to be, is starting to show through, but very slightly, like he’s starting to remember it. The revenge that is fueling him is starting to restore this personality, but very slowly

History: Orpheo is the younger twin brother to the heir of leadership in his world and he never had any wish to have any sort of leadership. He was more fascinated in the world that those of his world would visit. However, at his age, he could not go since it was believed that a young one like him could not safely traverse the shadowy realm between the two. So he would simply talk to those who went about what they saw.

He had a very easy life until a friend of the family decided that he wanted to rule and attacked his brother and father. Orpheo showed up and saved his brother and fled with him while their father stalled to let them. Seeing as staying in their world would not be safe, they both agreed to try and hide in the other world. While Orpheo seemed to make through the middle realm pretty fine, his brother was heavily distorted. He didn’t want to leave him but his brother told him he needed to escape. The forces against them would come for them since many of them were jumpers and could easily catch up to him if he didn’t leave him. Orpheo left his brother and tried to find a place in the shadows of this world to hide, but realized that could never happen. At this time he came upon a pre-teen who had gotten gravely injured in an area of forest and was slowly dying. After a conversation between them, the boy agreed to be devoured to help Orpheo truly escape.

He was very disoriented when he came to in his new form, not really knowing how to maneuver in his heavier form. While safe in the new world from his enemies, he didn’t know what to do next and spent the following few days aimlessly lying about the forest. Until he was found by man named Zachary, who took him back to his place to take care of him since he was very weak. There, he met his wife, Mina, and a cat like creature that had a silhouetted body like his. This happened to be another Shadow Fiend; a criminal who was sentenced to gain a form in this world not long after Orpheo was “born”. He went by the name Noir. He could only communicate with Orpheo using their native language. Since he was especially a cat, Noir couldn’t speak the human language.

Orpheo spent the next five years figuring things out and living with Noir and this couple. That was until he learned about a magic called Shadowmancy and a place where it could be taught. He believed that it could help him get back to his world, and with it’s power, he could over throw the family that betrayed his. So, he now goes to face his destiny and he is excited about meeting the other beings that live in the world he now calls home.

The first year of Otherworlde taught him that there are terrible things in the world he’d wanted to visit. However, it also taught him that he’s stronger than he believed. He gained friends and acquaintances as well as enemies. With this world expanding, he has hopes that it will teach him how to take back his world.

Misc. Information:

-Orpheo doesn’t wear shoes, he doesn’t like how they feel, plus they make too much noise for his liking. Plus, he feet are very small, so nothing ever fit him right. So, he has very tough feet.

-His blood is such that he bleeds out yellow, but it quickly starts to turn black from the inside out, until it’s completely black.

-Heightened Immunity means that there is yet to be a poison found that could kill him, though the deadly ones can make him rather sick. Also means that if he catches any illness, he heals from it faster than normal beings. It doesn’t, however, mean that he heals faster from physical ailments, it just means those injuries won’t get infected.

-Quiet Footed means that he pretty much walks silently and can easily sneak up on people. He has hidden behind corners and no one has noticed him until they go around the corner. It is heightened when he is in shadow, even making himself less noticeable.

-Extreme flexibility means that he can twist and contort in drastic ways, and can even stretches a bit. Hence the reason he wears loose fitting clothes.

-Minor Shadowmancy means he has an understanding of shadowmancy now after his year in school. He can melt into shadows rather easily now, having gotten a feel for it. He’s eager to learn more shadowmancy

-He doesn’t technically have to eat as much every day, nor sleep as long or as much since he is more or less a shadowy hybrid. The needs of the species he devoured are lessened. He can grow rather weak if he is in direct sunlight for a long period of time.

- During the break between the school terms, his guardian, Mina, made him some new clothes cause his old shirt and pants had become so ragged. She took what was left of the pants and made new pants. He got a different shirt too, the design something that Mina wanted to try out. Both the pants and the shirt are made using some magic thread that Mina has, which always keeps the wearer the most comfortable in any temperature. .

-He has a habit of removing his shirt when he's resting in his room, or just laying about. The exact reasoning behind this unclear.

-At the present time, due to the turmoil going on in their world, Shadow Fiend jumpers (those who actively traverse into this world) are few and far between, if appearing at all. In addition to this, the magic of the school doesn't allow them to be present in its shadows. These issues make the fact of Orpheo still being alive and mystery to them.

-Orpheo is the first of his kind to have a human-like shape, as all of the criminals were forced with animal-like shapes. The knowledge of loosing once power when taking a form is believed because no form has ever been from a magical being. Unknown to Orpheo, the pre-teen he devoured was actually a warlock in training, infusing his new form with a few magical properties. This will allow him to gain access to his powers and new ones in the future.

-The happy personality is hiding a deeper one that he doesn’t know about. After the whole ordeal, he was in a state of shock for a year. In this year, he gained the personality he has now. However, he has one that is much darker, more stubborn and insulting. It reflects some of the trickster he used to be back home.

-During his final shadow melting assignment of his first year, a state was unlocked within him that comes forth in times of great pain, anger, hopelessness and so on. Within this state, he appears emotionless, except for a rage that is fueling it. He doesn't speak or make any kind of sound. His body is encased in blackness, a silhouette with harsh yellow eyes. He is a force that can barely be reasoned with. Usually, he will only attack his target in this state, but if someone attacks or hinders him, they will be subjected to attack. With the exception of those who he seems to consider good friends. Orpheo doesn't know about this state and will even deny it's existence. Due to this, he can't control it. The origin of this state is unknown.

Orpheo: *He is sitting on top of the roof looking out at the sky. It’s been five years but Orpheo never gets tired looking at the different array of stars. A smile comes to his face as he points to the sky* Hey, Noir, what’s that constellation called again? *He asks and looks down at the similarly dark catlike being next to him. It’s now he sees that his friend is asleep. He looks down at him for a bit then pets his head. There they are, more or less the same species, but Orpheo treats him like a pet at times.* Noir really accepted his new roll. *He comments to no one as he looks back at the sky. The idea of never returning home is very real to the once prince right now. But he is not going to give up* I will find a way back home one day. *Orpheo declares to himself. After a short pause, he decides to lie back on the roof and close his eyes, listening to the sounds of the forest*

Paragraph Sample:
It was a pretty cloudy day and Orpheo decided to go for a walk through the surrounding wood. For once, Noir wasn’t following him, so he went in a direction that his friend never liked. The Shadow Fiend observed the trees he was walking past so he could remember the way back to his home. As he looked up at the shaded canopy, his bare foot stepped on something that didn’t feel natural. He looked down to see what looked like the remains of a fence, rotted after years of neglect. After a moment, he looked up to see the remains of a cottage that fell in on itself. This was not what he was expecting to see on his walk. Disregarding caution, Orpheo crept closer to the house until he was stand at what was once the threshold of a door. He stuck his head over it first before his body followed and he walked into what was the inside of the cottage. It was a mess due to the caved in roof, though he saw the rotting remains of furniture and amenities. He easily squeezed past some beams to continue into another part of the house, but he tripped over his feet and fell onto the floor on the other side of the beams. “Ow,” he commented before looking up and coming face to face with a skull. “Ahhh!” the surprise came and he stumbled backwards. There was the skeleton of the former resident, long forgotten inside this abandon building. While having never seen a human one, he knew what skeletons had once been. Examining the person, he saw that the corpse was clutching a book to its rag-covered chest. Curiosity got the better of him and showing no respect, he yanked the book out of the skeleton’s hands, causing the arms to fall off. Orpheo chuckled at the result then looked at the cover of the book. “The World of Magic,” he read out loud. There was a pause. “Magic? What is that?” he soon gave a small smirk. “It should be fun to read,” he looked up at the skeleton. “Thanks,” and he stood up, turned and started to head out of the cottage.
